Laura Meseguer

Laura Meseguer is a type designer and typographer whose work explores the cultural, historical, and expressive dimensions of letterforms.

Her website acts as an image-led portfolio, showcasing typefaces, research-driven projects, and typographic experiments through carefully composed visuals and specimens.

Rather than relying on heavy explanation, the site lets typography take center stage—highlighting craft, nuance, and the thinking behind each design.

It’s a calm, refined space that reflects a deep respect for type as both a functional tool and a cultural artifact.

Rigor and joy sit at the heart of everything she does.

Laura’s love for letters began in childhood, influenced by her family’s background in printing.

She studied graphic design before becoming a professional type designer and educator after completing the Type and Media program at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.

She is the founder of Type-Ø-Tones, one of Spain’s first digital type foundries.

From 2017 to 2023, Laura served on the board of ATypI, an international non-profit organization dedicated to typography and typeface design, known for its annual conference held since 1957.

She is also a founding member of Alphabettes, a platform that supports and promotes the work of women and non-binary professionals in lettering, typography, and type design.

She has taught typography and type design for over 15 years, and many of her former Master’s students are now established professionals.

Since 2019, she has been the academic director of Tipo-g, an educational initiative that brings together Barcelona’s type design community with emerging talent.

In addition, she regularly delivers lectures and workshops worldwide.

Her typefaces, available through Type-Ø-Tones, have received multiple awards, including Certificates of Excellence from the Type Directors Club of New York and Laus Prizes from ADG-FAD in Spain.

In 2018, she was awarded the Premio Gràffica, recognizing her career and her role in shaping the typographic landscape in Spain.

Her work has also been featured in From Spain With Design, a project by the Spanish Network of Design Associations (READ) that promotes Spanish design on the international stage.
