It’s the kind of portfolio that doesn’t rely on noise — just strong fundamentals, clean execution, and a clear sense of design maturity. ✨

Advocate

Max has led several civic design organizations and initiatives that push design beyond its usual boundaries and into the public sphere.

He focuses on using design to expand access, impact, and opportunity — especially outside traditional market-driven work.

He’s collaborated with non-profits and NGOs, helped create design-centered programs and events, and supported design access initiatives that make creative tools and thinking available to more people.

For Max, this kind of work “outside the market” is what defines advocacy.

In his view, a design visionary believes the world can improve through the power and reach of design.

A design advocate actually puts in the work to advance that vision.

Over the years, Max has learned from and worked alongside some of the most inspiring design advocates in the field.

He sees his career as a long-term commitment to public good — a lifetime of using design in the service of society.

Specializing in Design for New Technologies

Why Max looks forward to new technologies.

Max is a hopeful realist when it comes to new technology — equal parts wide-eyed curiosity and grounded responsibility.

He gets genuinely excited about what we don’t know yet, but never forgets what we already understand about people and the world we live in.

He’s especially drawn to the early edges of science and industry — the ideas that are still forming, or haven’t fully taken shape yet. To him, that’s where design can have the most significant impact.

More and more, Max has been working in these emerging spaces, and it’s there that his belief in design is strongest: not just as a way to make things look good, but as a way to imagine, shape, and actually build a better future.
